- Create and Save a new Endnote library in an identifiable location on your hard-drive (unless you are importing records to an existing Endnote library).
- In WorldCat, mark records to be saved.
- Click on the "Export" button.
- Choose "Marked records from this search" then click on the Export button. If this option does not appear in Worldcat, it is likely a problem with your Web browser. It is recommended that you download a Mozilla Firefox Web Browser to your computer and perform your search with Mozilla’s Firefox: http://www.mozilla.com/
- Choose “Open” or “Open with” on the pop-up window that appears.
- EndNote will start. Select an existing endnote library in which to place the new records. At the prompt, select the “WorldCat (OCLC)” import filter. The records will be copied to your Endnote library.
B. To Save records from different searches in WorldCat for later batch transfer to Endnote (so that you don’t repeatedly go through the process outlined above):
- Create an account in WorldCat, creating subfolders corresponding to projects/chapters, and save marked records to these folders for later use. These saved records in WorldCat can be exported to Endnote.
- From the WorldCat screen, select “My Account” and “New User Registration” (if you don’t already have an account). Fill in required fields.
- After account is created, begin “searching.”
- Mark appropriate bibliographic records for saving, select “Marked Records,” then “Saved Marked Records.”
- The saved records will appear in your account’s “default” folder. You can name and create new folders and move records to these folders. The records are automatically saved in your account (you can close out WorldCat without loosing them).
- To export records in one of your folders to Endnote, select “List of Records,” then “Export” and follow directions above for exporting to Endnote.
